Well I tried to get Crystal to be a guest writer on this entry, but that was a no go. Last night was bunches of fun though. We started off not knowing what to do, as always... so we headed to Barnes and Noble over in Huntington Beach. Boy were we in for a surprise. When we showed up the Star Wars groupies were there. Timothy Zohn was there doing a lovely book signing. Everywhere we turned there was some dude in a costume. Sometimes I wish I really had a camera phone. Well after about an hour or so checking out how to be a maid of honor and leadership books, we were on our way.
We had no clue where we were headed but we drove past Old World Village and I had always wanted to check it out... so that's just what we did! This site shows a few more pictures and gives you a better feel of the thing though. The place was desolate as well as completely creepy. It looked like a bad set on a movie. Oddly enough we did see a few people standing outside a small church (with a cross on top and all) that were all dressed up. But then we became very confused as we looked closer and saw them wearing Yamahas.
Well we found a small pub and crawled down stairs to check it out. We were by far the youngest people there as we looked around at the other 8 people. But the sign said bathrooms for customers only and Crystal just HAD to pee. Anyway, I had been craving a good German beer for a while now. We sat down there and drank our massive beer and even talked with the German bartender. Damn I wish I remembered some German besides how to count to 10 and watermelon. I couldn't even think of how to say airplane! (I'm sure Robert; you'll let me know). The place had so much stuff all over the walls and had a really cool feel to it. It was fun but boy is that German beer strong.
On the way home we just had to make another stop at a liquor store. We take the fifth on that one. But as we are headed to the car we look across the street and see Jack in the Box. Well neither one of us was hungry, but cheesecake always sounds good. So then off we went. We walked over there but the place was locked up. So little me, with my pink beanie on walks up to the kid working the drive thru, puts on my cutest smile and says... "Hi, can we walk up?" Looks to the left... car coming at me... "We just wanted some cheesecake." Flashes cute smile once again. Kid comes back and hands a cheesecake and a fork out the window with his goofy little awkward pimple faced smile right back at me. "Thanks!" Yummmmm... free cheesecake...
So we walk back to the car and yes, Crys has to pee AGAIN. There she goes into the liquor store and back out again with no luck. So she tromps on over to the closing Chinese store and works her magic. Then off to home.
After coming back home we just went for a walk. We sat down and talked forever about so much. Amazing how a little bit of beer... well and a few shots and other things can get us talking. I love you forever my Crysleanntal! I feel a little lighter too... like a small weight has been lifted up a bit. Still don't know where I'm headed, but at least I know I have people beside me.
Posted by tricia at February 14, 2004 05:43 PMas adorably cute as you are, as slightly tipsy as you might have been, and as kindly hospitable a tip-seeking bartender would be, one still wonders how "airplane" would have worked into the conversation, at least to your advantage . . .
oh, btw it's Flugzeug --
Abendgruß!
Posted by: Robear at February 14, 2004 11:18 PMTric, I dont think I could have said it any better! Exept that you made it sound like I was the only one who had to pee...you did too...you can just hold it longer. Funny how our random night turned into so much fun! =o)
So you found the infamous Ratskeller...and I see you met Axel the bartender...was Mama and Papa there? Mama is the old lady that is usally cooking and Papa is the old man that plays the accordian...oh man, so many memories and some that I can't remember anymore too...wow, I am craving some Brat now and a nice tall Warsteiner and oh yeah a few underbergs...did you have any of those by the way??? oh well, that place is usually only fun to go to during Octoberfest or during the World Cup or any other soccer tournament...
Posted by: Bryce at February 15, 2004 02:46 PMWell Robert... the airplane just came from no where actually. My favorite German word is 17 and my friend's favorite is airplane... just randomness.
Yah! I totally forgot the guy on the accordian! It rocked. We didn't have anything else there but the Oktoberfest... how ever they spell it there. We were asking about those tiny little bottle thingys that were supposed to settle your stomach but at the same time is 40 proof. Do more than 10 people fit in there Bryce? We saw the 80 limit and couldn't imagine that at all...
Posted by: tricia at February 15, 2004 04:44 PMUmmm... Yamahas???? What, did they have grand pianos on their head or something. Your sorta Jewish sister is cringing, here. ;)
