someone easy going... who likes touristy stuff but who really would rather get into the culture and life
would rather walk down a street market then eat at the tourist trap floating restaurant that everyone seems to talk about
destination: Hong Kong
time: March
duration: approx 1-2 weeks
Posted by tricia at October 29, 2004 04:35 PMThat sounds really cool.
Posted by: Rocket/Elizabeth at October 29, 2004 05:59 PMBe sure not to stop at some tourist trap while visiting the tourist trap Hong Kong. Eating at some exported portion of western culture would totally negate the experience of visiting an exported western culture. ie. ex-colonial Britain.
Posted by: mo at October 30, 2004 06:45 PMMy computer is hacking up a lung trying to access your site today...seems to only want to pull up bits and pieces. But so what - Hong Kong sounds awesome, take many pictures! :)

Posted by: bose at October 31, 2004 05:50 PMhong kong in march...well theres only one thing going on and that the rugby 7's world cup..that is where prett much everyone in the country will be. other than that....street markets? go with temple street, it a night market on the main land...very cool
Posted by: Will (Alex's lil bro) at November 1, 2004 12:56 PMHong Kong is not a tourist trap and clearly you have never been there MO. If you have been there, obviously you did not do a good job of getting into the culture. I mean anyone can go to say San Francisco and only visit wax museums, alcatraz and pier 39, but those who take the time to get involved in the culture of the city are the ones who walk away with a great experience. Sure they have Mcdonald's.. but they have those in any f***ing country nowadays so poorly made point. What country has not been colonialized or is western anyway. And unless you are hanging out in the ex pat community for some reason, it doesn't feel like colonial britain at all.
But have fun trying to act like you know what the hell you are talking about.
