Ok, I still haven't had the inevitable horrible Kaiser experience, but I keep feeling like they are trying to cross sell me. For example, I scheduled an EYE exam and my appointment notice includes the following... NOTE: You may need a Pap smear. Please discuss with your physician or schedule at your next visit.
Then as I'm there, I get a notice from the eye RN type person in regards to doing blood work and checking my cholesterol. Good thing I got out while I did, or I could have had eye, Pap, and blood drawn. Just like Walmart, you can pick up some DVDs, tampons, and stop for some fries all at once.
I was inspired by Heidi to make a "30 Things To Do Before I'm 30" list. I'm looking for suggestions! Suggest away! :o) Here's what I have so far...
Vegas Baby
Go skydiving
Hike the waterfalls in Hawaii
SCUBA Dive
Impromptu camping
Mountain Bike riding using ski lifts
Vacation in Barbados
Get laid (haha)
Meet the man of my dreams (see above)
Go paintballing
Move out
Host a dinner party for 10
Start grad school
Ride on a fast motorcycle
Go snowboarding
Take and frame a really great photograph
Wrap someone’s office completely in foil
Drive a car over 140 mph
Host a poker tournament
Fly in a light aircraft with Alex
Be in the news (photo in the paper or on TV)
Milk a cow
Go fishing at a river or lake
Not die
So I added a new album to my gallery. I hope you don't kill me Alex! :o) It's called random fun. It's going to be a place that I can share with you all a little bit of humor, sickness, or thrill. Yah, it's going to be the best thing ever... heh.
Included today is a pretty cool commercial a friend at work emailed me. Enjoy.
"Yesterland will never be completed as long as there are attractions left to close in Disneyland."
— Werner Weiss
Thanks Lindsay for A LOT of reading material. I found it really interesting and a little blast to the past. Too bad Captain EO is gone though, right Michael? Tear, tear, Disneyland brought my sister and Michael together. Yes they both worked there, met there, and had a Mickey and Minnie thingy on top of their wedding cake. :o) Too cute.
So my friends, help me out here... what makes a girl a pimp or a ho?
Awwww... camp. Don't know when I will ever make it up there. Blah. Anyone interested in a camp day in LA? Ha. That sounded funny and rhymed. :o) We could do crafts, play games, have a cookout with foil, drink from nalgenes, sing, scare nearby children, and of course play frisbee. Or we could just go play miniture golf or bowl or something. I need some camp lovin.
Don't really know what I have to say tonight. I'm just awake and almost deaf. Clubs have their moments, but you leave without any hearing at all. That's my story. Sorry if you were expecting more. :o) I love my Bus!
::edit::
I know what I was going to add! At the end of the night, they started playing country to get people moving out... it totally worked, but there was Megan and I twirling around the dance floor, singing along. Anyone want to head to a country bar? Yessssssss...
Working non-profit has its ups and downs... I mean, the pay isn't that great, but you can really be listened to. I think the only real down is the pay, but times when you get a little glimpse into how you can really make a difference you realize money might make the world go round, but spinning too fast can make you dizzy.
I don't think people realize in Garden Grove how much Boys & Girls Clubs really make a difference. I didn't know until I started with the organization. No, we aren't just a "swim and gym." We have a pre-school, 5 before school programs, 15 afterschool programs (10 which are completely free and each serve over 100 kids a day), sports leagues, leadership groups like tourch club and keystone for jr. high and high school kids, summer programs, truancy reduction center, family youth and outreach counseling, opening up a children's health center next door where there is dental and health care provided through partnerships with CHOC & Healthy Smiles, and family literacy programs. Ok, I know that was a whole lot to read, but we really do reach from 18 months to 18 years and even the family as a whole. The PD and school district love us. I just don't know how to get our brand out into our community more.
I got seriously teary eyed when I was listening to our grant writers. They are constantly looking for us to expand. We serve 43 schools, and growing all the time. I don't really know where I'm going with this, but if you play golf, come to our golf tournament. I'll get off my soap box for now.
Last July I got a major tune up because I hadn't had one ever, and also because I also was getting poor gas milage. Afterwards, it didn't get dramastically better, so I figured my car is just getting old, right?
Well after I got my gas valve thing fixed I've been getting so much better gas milage. Could it really been that I have been driving while leaking gas for over 8 months! Dang that's scary...
Just thought I would blind everyone for a day or two... comments? Suggestions? I also updated a few links to the left over there. Whitney wanted me to add her, even though every entry she writes is private and blocked! Sheesh... go figure. :o)
Yesterday I headed out to Long Beach with Megan to try to find something that was happening for the Superbowl. Yah, that was little luck. I think everyone just stays in for the thing. We started off at the Yard House by the Pike or Shoreline. I haven't really been to downtown LB. The place is really starting to look good. Then we headed down to 2nd Street. Man, that place. My first experience at Shannon's. I told Megan that it was borderline dive bar, now looking back on it, it was. This guy sat next to me and was so touchy. Everytime he talked to me he had to give me a half hug. One beer never seemed to drag on in my life.
We also went to Legends, which was pretty dead as well. The night ended up good because I went back to Megan's and she made dinner. I told her what a quillow was because she had a quilt on her couch and had no idea that it could be folded up and tucked into a pillow. I used to think that little pouch was a foot warmer too.
Man, this post was really about nothing... but I need to get back into the groove of things. :o) Encourage me!
When you give a guy your number, how long should it take to give you a call? That's the question of the week. Now let's say they have a mutual friend, are you supposed to check up? Someone clue me in here. What if you're the mutual friend? Are you supposed to kick them in the ass?
