Triple Treat

Another lovely update from me! I truly hope you are enjoying them. Let’s see… this weekend I went on three rides and all three were very different. Friday I was super excited to jump on the bike and ride, but it all changed when we got on the beach bike path. The wind had a chill and for some reason I felt really slow. I really think that my biggest challenge for the ride in June will be getting over any mental blocks. We got down to the end of the path and sat for a little while. The path ends at a marina overlooking the Queen Mary and is gorgeous. Heidi tried to snap me out of my funk and it worked once we decided to take a different route home. We rode down Ocean Blvd (even made a short stop into the Long Beach Museum of Art for Free Friday.) Cars… I have to work on riding around cars. It really does put you on alert!

Saturday Heidi and I had a visit from Nicole (Nikki) & Michael. They rode to our place on their tandem. Both were completely decked out in their gear, bike shorts and all. (No, I still haven’t ventured on a ride solely in my tightie bikies.) After we stood there and waved them off, we looked at each other and decided to hit the petals. We rode the long way around Belmont and headed up Park Ave. It actually has an enormous hill, well, not THAT enormous but enough to make us work for it. We rode side by side almost in cadence. I don’t think the cars behind us liked that too much, but it was encouraging to do it together. We made a stop at Jenny’s apartment, but she wasn’t home. Out shopping on Thanksgiving weekend? Go figure. I was going to tell her that since Nikki biked to my apartment and then I biked to hers… she would have to bike to Nikki & Michael’s place to end the rotation. Oh well.

On Sunday Heidi and I put our mountain bikes to use… well, sort of. We thought we were stunt riders jumping and riding over debris. The winds were really strong this weekend and rattled the palm trees. There was stuff left and right to play with. It was a relatively short ride, but when you are standing most of the time, pedaling hard, swerving around to run over stuff, and lifting up the bike it can really get your heart rate up. We like to call it cross training.

Next weekend we are going to a holiday party for AIDS/Lifecycle participants. I am really excited to tour the Jeffery Goodman Clinic and hear the stories of why riders participate. Also as of last night I am only $25 away from the $1000 mark! Who wants to put me there? :o) Thanks again for all your support, both financial & good wishes.

Rent

I just got home from seeing Rent today. Amazing. It gives me so much more motivation and purpose for my ride. AIDS is out there folks. It keeps growing every moment and is affecting so many lives.

will someone care
will I wake tomorrow
from this nightmare"

Support me. If you are moved by the film, support me. If you know anyone affected by the disease, support me. Just show your support to our community. Thank you to my friends and family that have already shown your support.

Home Sweet Home

Well kids... I finally broke down after nearly 5 months and took some pictures of our "new" place. For those of you that haven't visited yet, get to it! :o) We won't bite... hard. We still haven't finished *coughstartedcough* decorating, so here are some of the exterior, view, and like 3 of points of interest. I said I broke down, not that I became suddenly motivated! ;o)

I'm back!

I'm sure some of you were like... you left? Yes, I know I kind of just disappeared for a bit, but I needed it. I was off to Denver for the weekend to visit Eck and then to Virginia to see Ashleigh. I have amusing stories if you ask... I'm just not in the mood to write them all out.

See here for some select photos. :o)

Hugs and kisses.
