CANADA....A NEW HOPE

Imperial movements in the republic have ment rebel forces had to flee to the nearby winter system of canada minor..a offshot of the detriot arm. the dark lord bush had tightened his grip on the area. governor terminator has been installed to maintain clear passage through the area.

This is a time of planning and research for you hero will skywalker and his team of rebels - keve solo, danbaca, the small green wise one...carin, and princess ashley.

QUE MUSIC.

ok that was just pointless. i blame tom for his comment.

anyway...on to the 2nd part of my travels. Canada.

i landed in toronto after having a long and aimless conversation with a sweet little lady from toronto. why is it old ppl can pretend to be asleep to get out of a conversation, but when i do it....its rude. anyway, i found out that the best time to go fishing is around october, and that her husband just caught 6 fish. and that canada really looks after its old ppl, unlike england were the all sent to make my life that little more trying in the seaside resort of eastbourne.

anyway, i guess this trip was some whatt significant as this grouping of people are very rarely all together. dan and i worked out that it would be exactly a year since we last saw each other, which coincidently was the last time we were drunk together. ah the maple leaf...how i love thee.

so i was the first to touch down on canadian soil, with ash following closely behind. but far enough behind for us to go get a beer in between. we headed back to dan's grandpas place in the city for a nights rest before heading up to the cottage.

for some reason i rememberd the drive up to be really long. maybe its because last time we did it, we were in a car that was older than i was, and this time we had a very nice rented SUV, also maybe it was that we had music and we didnt have to listent to the 'interesting' radio stations along the way. but an hour and half later, we were at prides marina hoping that the boat was still floating. one of the drawbacks of having a cottage on an island is that it is on an island. but even after all dans stories of sinking boats, it was still there, but with the amount of stuff we loaded in to it (including 3 24s of beer), it sank rather low in the water.

we had 2 nights with just dan, ash and i. and then carin and kev arrived a bleary eyed after interesting flights on some very reputible charter airlines. anyway, as this post is going to be huge, im going to sort of only concertrate on the highlights of cottage life.

Sleemans - the best beer in the world. u can have a soundtrack to a holidays, but this was the taste. if anyone has had a honey brown, youll know what im talking about.

Booze Cruise - u get some amazing sunsets up on the lake. and when i got my fotos up, you will see. but it became a daily thing to grab some beers and head out on to the lake and sort of drift around, watching the sunset. this is very illegal, but i didnt see a single cop while i was there...i think he was attending some other situation.

The Cliffs - there are these cliffs on the lake that have taken on sort of mythic status. it goes 12ft, 22ft, 32ft, 39ft, and the 50. only a select few have done the 50, and until recently, i wasnt one of them. but this was the time. after a few trips to the cliffs and some warm up jumps on the lower ones. what afternoon after ash had left, kev and i had a few beers and said "its go time". so off we went. when we got there, there were a group of kid about our ages getting worked up to jump off the 39..so we push them out the way and just headed up, and just walked off the 50ft. it true, if you think about it, you will never do it. so apparently, according to dan, we are men now.

Harveys - this is a canadian fast food resturant that become like crack to us. i dont know why, but it just taste so good.

The music - dan had brought some large speaker up to the cottage and we were able to plug in our mp3 players. the cottage was rarely without music. and there was unspoken rule to play "cottage music"..what is cottage music u may ask. well here some examples

Jack Johnson, John Butler Trio, Lior, Bob Dylan, Mraz, Dispatch, Colin Hay (OR A WOMEN IF U ARE ONE) u get the idea.

Cards - thank you ashley for introducing us to shit head. because we have a no tv rule, getting hammered and playing cards is a great replacment. i saw we must have played about 4times a days at least, and it never got old

Basically the cottage is one of my fav places just to chill. read a book, watch the world, forget, remeber, what ever. and i suppose the people make it to....i love u guys. even carin. haha

anyway, this was no where near the entire canada experience. i have to do a totally new post for the next part. but i wanted to do the cottage side of the things on one post and next will be the Canoe trip....its was crazy yo.

so tune again...when i get some money to get to a pc

AMERICA...FUCK YEAH

So let bring up to speed with whats going. on figured there is no point going over alex birthday cus you just need to go to alex website and see the 100s of fotos of drunk middle aged ppl and me haha. nah it was cool to see everyone who i dont get to see that often. ashley can be my wittness that i had a good time as i had to pick her up from SFO airport the next morning...and she knew i was hung over.

i suppose i should sum up all the america travels in this post first. well as i said, ash flew in from tapie after time in nepal, india, hk, sinpapore and tawian..and yet she couldnt understand why imgiration wanted to ask her a few question lol. anyway, dont try and compare your gap year with ashley's: ash = everst base camp and met the dahli lama (amoung countless other things. will = i sat on a beach in australia. see, it just makes you feel lazy. anyway, i felt that after however many months of living of lentils and sleeping on two inch mattress, that ashley might like some home comforts. so alex and dee very kinldy said that she could stay with us in Tracy. you could actually see ashleys eye light up when i explain what Tivo was...."you mean, we can watch cartoons all day..with no adverts!".

anyway, i figured we had to do something of some tourist value rather than sit around watching the simpsons and deciding who was "gay for moleman". so off to my favourtie place in the world...BERKELEY. for those that havent been, not only is this home to one of the best uni's in the country, but also the heart landed of the hippe/bohemian/liberal/protestor...oh and the have cool record stores. i now own all 3 jack johnson albums on vynl...i feel so retro.

so afternoon there, we headed into downtown sanfran to met up with steve (ash's friend from england). after spending about 2hrs walking around SFO trying to find our hostel, we dumped our bag and walked to the waterfront. now i dont know how many of you are firmillar with SFOs geography, but lets just say they people who first settled there we either in great shape, mountain biked alot, or were just assholes. so after 30mins of staring at alcatras thinking "i knew we should have booked" we headed bach up thru the hills to powel. now im sure some of you are aware with my fascination with hobos. not neccerially why there are what they are but how the pander for that lose change in your pocket. my top lines i have heard so are "hi...can i give you money" - Toronto, "two dollars away from taking over the world" toronto" and "can you spare a Qrter, i need to get my lawyer out of jail" - berkeley. but we came across one while we were in Sfo this time made me think. we were looking for a movies in downtown, and this guy overheard us, came over and told exactly where the nearest one was, how many screens it had and how long it would take to walk. he even gave us a map. i thought he was like a tourist guy or something, then he says "i live on the street, and this is what i do to make some money,so any donatations would be greatly appertiated. now think about that, most homeless guys just lay around and ask you to give them you money just because. but this guy had taken the time to educated himself in his surroundings, to try take his sitatuon and find some benefit in it. he was the most well informed homeless guy ever. just somethign to think about.

the next day we said we'd go for it. we got up nice and early and were basically gonna see what SFO had to offer from foot. so off to lombard st..thats the bendy one. and to my surprise its half way up a goddam mountain. then down to the water front and walked to the golden gate bridge. i might add now that there are fotos but ash has them all..but theyre good. its an amazing walk and suggest everyone to do it, you get to see parts of the city that you wouldnt otherwise, like walking to the palace of fine arts, which i love, i think its my favourite place in the city, except today it was over run with thousands of kids.

on the way back, we thought wed treat ourselves and take the cable car back to our hostel. did you know that the cable car is the only national monument that is in motion. anway, it sure helps to get up those hills. so we managed to fit SFO into 2days. u really do need load more time, but i wasnt gonna let ash come all this way and just stay in Tracy, where the average temperture melts lead.

It came to my attention that ashley had missed alot of great movies while travelig, so we made her last night a movie night. bowling for columbine and garden state...i know, bit of transition, but they are must see movies.

so we Dee very kindly drove ash to the airport to go to portland. there were no teary goodbyes, i mean it was only 4days till we were all meeting up in canada...ok ok...i cried alittle lol.

the last few days in california were pretty uneventful. just trying to figure out which cat ate/stole my socks. and before i knew it, i was back at SFO airport being told by my favourite airline in the world that im not wait listed, and its doesnt look good for me. i swear third time is a charm and next time air canada screws me around, im gonna bust a cap in their french canadain asses.

anyway, its has been brought to my attention that i start talking about something and then have serious tangents. so on that note. ill call it a day on this chapter of the darkenss of the past few weeks and start a new post......CANADA
